Well, I don’t think so because the Ferrari can do all of this with a 97-pound weight penalty. The F8 Tributo replaced the 488 GTB, introduced in 2015, but it’s essentially a mid-cycle upgrade and not a brand-new car. Unlike Porsches, Ferraris now come with carbon-ceramic brakes as a standard option. It produces 710 bhp and 568 lb-ft of torque at the crank, which is in the same as the 488 Pista. The F8 Tributo arrives just in time for the facelifted Lamborghini Huracan Evo and the relatively new McLaren 720S. This is the new Ferrari F8 Tributo, or, as I suspect some will call it - the Ferrari Fate (you know, F8, Fate, I know, I’m sad). I could not find out if the F8 Tributo has as light a lithium-ion battery as the 488 Pista. There’s also an upgraded HMI system, new contrast stitching on the dashboard and the seats, and bigger pieces of carbon-fiber all over the place. Quite a gain. The reason for this importance is that the F8 remains the core offering by Ferrari at a point of time when their range is expanding more than ever before. It was sculpted by the wind but still houses very beautiful design elements. The F8 Tributo is one of the most important models in the Ferrari line-up. The F8 Tributo rises above the Huracan Performance in some areas, but it’s probably not as agile on the race track. In its lightest form, the dry weight of the Ferrari F8 Tributo stands at 2,932 pounds. But I find it to be a hero because of something else - it is not built entirely from carbon-fiber yet it still manages to be in the same society as carbon-fiber built cars. Ferraris have been selling in larger numbers than ever now, even the V12s, and are slowly disrupting their reliability and longevity concerns, things that have troubled the brand greatly in the past. Stopping distances, I assume should be some of the best in the category. It is a combination of everything Ferrari does well and comes at a very attractive price point. It was designed by the Ferrari Styling Center under Flavio Manzoni and it retains core design elements from the gorgeous Pininfarina designed 458. If Ferrari doesn’t put a massive premium compared to the 488 GTB, the Tributo could eventually cost a bit less than the McLaren 720S. The S-duct up front included. Even though the Ferrari has a rather humble powertrain compared to its rivals with glorious V12s, it matches up to all of them to 60mph and then leaves them for dead by the quarter-mile mark. It also wins the top speed battle by a significant margin, at 211 mph versus "only" 202 mph. One that replaces the magnificent 488 GTB. In my mind it is. Arguably the best-performing supercar on this list, the 720S arrived in 2017 as a replacement for the 650S.
